AUGUSTA - Marie Lozefski, 90, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care at Glenridge after a long illness.
She was born in Meredith, N.H., on July 11, 1923, the daughter of Austin R. and Rosamond (Daigneau) Morrill.
Marie was raised in New Hampshire before her family moved to Connecticut, where she spent most of her life. Aside from raising her two sons, she was employed by General Motors' New Departure for more than 40 years until her retirement in 1984 at age 60.
In 1995, to be closer to her son, Felix Jr., Marie moved to Hallowell where she enjoyed her regular walks along the scenic Kennebec Rail Trail. Her favorite hobbies included crocheting, playing solitaire, and she also loved the polka and listening to polka music. One of her favorite sayings she will be forever remembered for was, "Don't take any wooden nickels."
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Felix S. Lozefski, in 1973; and one brother, "Timer" Morrill.
She is survived by her two sons, Felix Lozefski Jr., and wife Vicky, of Chelsea, and Troy Lozefski and wife Leanne, of Lyndonville, Vt,; two brothers, Austin Morrill and wife Polly, of Moultonboro, N.H., and Art Morrill and wife Nancy, of Laconia, N.H.; five grandchildren, Russ Lozefski and wife Sara, Keith, Althea, and Arin Lozefski and Jeremy; one great-granddaughter, Piper Lozefski; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private family celebration of Marie's life will be at a later date at St. Joseph South Cemetery in Bristol, Conn.
