WINTHROP -- Robert Bruce Webb, 75, of Route 133, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston.

He was born in Lansing, Mich., on Sept. 6, 1937, the son of John Phillip and Lyda Townsend Webb.

Bob attended St. John's High School and graduated valedictorian of his class in 1955. Bob worked for the Kroger Co. throughout high school and college, graduating from Michigan State University in 1961.

In September 1957, Bob married Darlene Brown of Mason. They lived in Mason until after graduating from MSU, when Bob accepted a job with General Foods Corp. in the Maxwell House Division. That began the "Corporate Shuffle" consisting of eight moves to different states in eight years. After 15 years with General Foods, Bob resigned and moved his wife and four children, Scott, Robbin, Stacey and Anthony, to Monmouth. After working at the Bank of Maine, Longley Associates and Volk Packaging, he spent 15 years as vice president of Marketing and Sales for Saunders Bros. in Westbrook. Bob was never happier than when he was selling something to someone or training people how to do that as well as he could.

After retiring from Saunders Bros. and a seven-week trip (because of breakdowns) to Alaska, he joined Darlene as sales manager of ERA Webb Associates.

Motor homing throughout the United States allowed Bob and Darlene to see our beautiful country and visit with friends and family along the way. Taking the six "little people" on trips in the motor home was one of the true joys in Bob's life. Traveling was a large part of his work life, and he enjoyed sharing with Darlene some of the places he had visited.

Spending the winters in Chapala, Mexico, was the next adventure, and he embraced this exciting time as he did every new experience. Wonderful people, neighbors, church and amazing scenery. No one was safe from Bob's ability to get to know you. A friend once said, "Does he ever meet a stranger?" The answer to that is NO.

Bob's family was the most important thing in his life, and he leaves his wife Darlene of 55-plus years; four children, Scott R. Webb Sr. and wife Barbara, Robbin Webb Frost Alden and husband Ken, Stacey Webb Frost and husband Eric, and Anthony Webb; eight grandchildren, Scott R. Webb Jr. and wife Nicole, Zachery Frost, Christopher Frost, Stephanie Frost, Sarah Frost, Abigail Webb, Samantha Frost and Emma Grace Webb Alden; three great-grandchildren, Lilah Rose, Audrey Grace and Sophia Elise Webb; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob is a cancer survivor and owes the last two years of his life to Dr. Robert Soiffer at the Dana Farber Cancer Research Center in Boston.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Dana Farber Cancer Research Center, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115-6084, in Bob's name.

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A celebration of Bob's life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at Winthrop United Methodist Church.

Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the website at www.khrfuneralhomes.com.
