AUGUSTA - Clement L. Dube, age 73, a longtime resident of Washington Street, died unexpectedly Dec. 8, 2013, at his home. He was born in Augusta on Dec. 12, 1939, the son of Willie Dube and Annie V. (Pepin) Dube.
Clem was a 1958 graduate of Cony High School of Augusta. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy for several years.
He retired from the Augusta Fire Department on July 19, 1984, after a 20-year career.
Clem was a member of St. Michael Parish at St. Augustine Catholic Church. He was a Life Member of the Calumet Club.
His wife, Jeanne C. (Maheux) Dube, predeceased him on Nov. 4, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roland Dube, and two sisters, Bertha Beaudoin and Rita Gotreau.
Surviving are two daughters, Catherine A. Jean, of Groton, Conn., and Diane T. Hathaway, of Augusta; three sons: Lionel C. Dube, of Cairo, N.Y., Donald R. Dube, of Newark, N.Y., and Kenneth E. Dube, of Augusta; two sisters: Theresa LaBrecque, of Skowhegan, and Ruth Barney, of Augusta; seven grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 6:15 p.m. for a prayer service. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Committal prayers and military honors will occur at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, in the chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
