HALLOWELL -- James W. Beane departed this life on Friday, April 12, in Lewiston.
He was born May 31, 1928, in Farmingdale, a son of the late Bernis M. and Achsa A. (Welch) Beane. He grew up in Farmingdale and attended Farmingdale and Hallowell schools. He married Marilyn King in 1949 and they would go on to spend 63 years together. They made their home in the Bath area until moving to Lisbon Falls in 1982.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during World War II from 1945 to 1950. Jim worked at General Electric from 1971 until 1982 as a foreman before returning to Bath Iron Works as a supervisor in the pipeshop. He retired from the BIW in 1993.
James was an avid fisherman and bow hunter and he enjoyed building and flying RC airplanes. He also spent much time helping his wife in her greenhouse and her flower garden.
James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn J. Beane, of Lisbon Falls; his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia (Glenn) Konicki, of Beach Park, Ill.; his grandson, Shawn (Angela) Konicki, of Kenosha, Wis.; his great-grandchildren, Annelise and Kellan Konicki, of Kenosha, Wis.; his sister, Arlene Brann-Brown, of Hallowell; and many nieces and nephews and good friends.
James was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Edna Fellows and Althea Libby; and his grandson, Christopher M. Konicki.
