TURNER -- Robert M. Walton, 76, a longtime resident of Turner, died suddenly Saturday, Jan. 7 while on his daily walk. He was born April 18, 1935, in Lewiston, the son of Warren D. and Laura (Thompson) Walton.
Bob was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School and attended Auburn School of Commerce. On Oct. 15, 1955, he married his wife of 53 years, Lois G. Chicoine of Livermore Falls. She passed away March 8, 2009.
He worked as a manager in the Sporting Goods Department at Sears Department Store in Lewiston, having had the pleasure of working closely with spokesman and fishing enthusiast Ted Williams.
He and Lois later owned and operated Lois and Pat's Store in North Turner. He retired at age 42, then after 15 years of retirement, he worked part time at Turner True Value and Maine Delivery Service.
Bob was a member of Turner Highlands Golf Club, also a former member of Maple Lane Golf Club, the Turner Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club and of the North Turner Fire Department.
Bob and Lois enjoyed following the sporting events of their children, grandchildren and others that were near and dear to them. Bob also enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends, and continued playing on the golf simulator during the winter months. Bob was very proud of shooting a hole-in-one, on hole 15 at Turner Highlands Country Club in 2002.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Kenny of Wayne and his son, Warren Walton and his wife Shannon of Turner; three grandchildren, Andrew Kenny and his wife, Julie, of Bath, Hannah Kenny of Brookline, Mass., and Tyler Walton of Turner; his sister, Lorna Doone of Wayne; his close cousin, Laurence Morse, and his wife, Beatrice, of Livermore Falls; his honorary son, Steve Morin of Turner; and honorary granddaughters, Kayla and Melissa Richardson of Turner.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lois Walton, in 2009, his infant son, Danny Walton, in 1958, his son, Todd Walton, in 2011; and his sister Valeria Wood.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment in the spring will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, 51 Fayette Road, Livermore Falls.
