AUGUSTA -- Orissa T. Scott, 95, formerly of Brentwood Avenue, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta campus, following a long illness. She was born in Augusta on April 22, 1917, a daughter of Samuel and Flora (Eldridge) Taylor.
Mrs. Scott was a graduate of Cony High School, class of 1936, and of Gates Business School, class of 1937.
She was married on April 19, 1947, to Victor H. Scott and was married to him for 38 years until his death in 1980.
Mrs. Scott had been employed by the Office of Maine Employment Security Commission for 33 years, retiring in March 1970.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and, in earlier years, was a member of St. Mary's Junior Guild, St. Mary's Adult Choir, the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as secretary and vice president, a member of Maine State Employees Association and a charter member of the Maine Association of Retirees.
Mrs. Scott was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Victor H. Scott.
She is survived by two great-nieces, Tina Roche, of East Boothbay, and Elizabeth A. Nitzel, of Farmingdale; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, especially her niece, Janis L. Roche, of Farmingdale.
Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Winthrop Street, Augusta.
